Quang Tri
Quang Tri is a province located in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam, bordered by Laos to the west and the East Sea (South China Sea) to the east. Its provincial capital is Đông Hà.
Historically, Quang Tri holds a significant place due to its strategic location near the former border between North and South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The province was heavily bombarded and is home to notable historical sites such as the Quang Tri Citadel, Vinh Moc Tunnels, and sections of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge, which once marked the division between North and South, are powerful symbols of the country’s reunification.
Today, Quang Tri is focused on post-war recovery, including clearing unexploded ordnance (UXO), and developing its economy through agriculture, renewable energy (especially wind power), and tourism. Despite its war-torn past, the province is gradually transforming into a region of peace, heritage, and resilience.
